Kenosha, Wis. – A Racine woman faces serious legal trouble after being charged with multiple offenses related to a violent altercation at a Kenosha restaurant.
Makayla P. Smith, 20, was charged on Monday, March 3, 2025, with Battery, Disorderly Conduct/Use of a Dangerous Weapon, and two counts of Felony Bail-Jumping. If convicted, she could face more than 10 years behind bars. Smith was already wanted in Racine County at the time of her arrest, where she has multiple felony and misdemeanor cases pending, including charges of Felony Retail Theft, Felony Identity Theft, and Battery or Threats to a Judge, Prosecutor, or Law Enforcement Officer. Additionally, she faces charges for throwing bodily fluids at a public safety worker, resisting an officer, and five counts of Felony Bail-Jumping. If convicted on those charges, Smith could be sentenced to decades in prison.
Incident at Golden Corral
According to the criminal complaint, Kenosha police responded to reports of a large fight at Golden Corral, located at 6208 75th Street, at approximately 6:45 p.m. on March 2. Witnesses reported that a group of five to seven people were engaged in a brawl, with threats of stabbing and the use of knives.
When Officer Keaskowski arrived on the scene, she spoke with a witness, one of the alleged victims, who stated that Smith had initiated the altercation. The witness was dining with her sister and daughter when Smith allegedly approached their table, yelled threats, and struck her on the head with a plate full of food. The officer noted mashed potatoes in the victim’s hair, and while she had no visible injuries, she requested medical attention for head pain.
The altercation escalated when Smith allegedly threw a cake at the victim’s daughter, leading to a physical fight. The daughter told police that during the fight, Smith grabbed what she believed to be a steak knife and threatened to stab her. The fight spilled into the parking lot before officers arrived.
Conflicting Accounts
Smith provided officers with a different version of events. She claimed that while waiting for steak at the buffet, she was confronted aggressively by a woman she recognized from a past dispute. She alleged that after being threatened, she threw a plate in self-defense and was subsequently attacked by three women. Smith denied using a knife and stated that the alleged victim had struck her multiple times, resulting in a swollen and cut lower lip.
Eyewitness Accounts and Evidence
Several witnesses, including restaurant patrons and staff, confirmed that Smith was the primary aggressor. Another witness stated that Smith reignited an earlier verbal altercation by physically attacking the victim with mashed potatoes. She also reported seeing Smith grab a knife and attempt to slash another woman before being restrained.
Officer Esquivel, who examined the scene, found evidence of the chaotic fight, including overturned tables, food strewn across the dining area, and utensils scattered on the floor. Another witness reported that his teenage son, who was dining at the restaurant, was struck by a flying cup and plate during the melee, sustaining a minor injury under his eye.
Smith’s Legal Troubles
At the time of her arrest, Smith was out on bond from multiple felony cases in Racine County. Records indicate she failed to appear in court on September 6, 2024, leading to the forfeiture of a $400 cash bail in Case Number 24CF367, which involved eight felony charges, including five counts of Felony Bail-Jumping. In another Racine County case, she faced two felony counts of Retail Theft and Identity Theft, with her bail forfeited after multiple missed court appearances.
Current Status
Despite the serious charges in Kenosha, Smith managed to post $2,500 cash bail following her arrest. She now awaits trial, with the possibility of facing extensive prison time if convicted on the numerous felony charges she faces in both Racine and Kenosha counties.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and additional charges may follow as prosecutors review the case.

I’m waiting for Patrice Cullors of BLM to weigh in on Smith’s Right to blame others for her lack of self discipline and civility.
It goes to show ,you can take the man out of the jungle , but you can’t take the jungle out of the man !!
How the hell was such a low bail posted for such an obvious stinking pile of poo? Was it low because Racine said, “don’t worry we’ll take her”? She better still be locked up somewhere because as the potential time in jail piles up so does her likelihood of disappearing, which is why it’s so ridiculous to give her a low bail. Obviously this all started because she was an innocent marginalized person being picked on by, “them”
🤪
This is how they operate. One crime after another, out on the streets committing more crimes. Seems the justice system has forgotten we have laws, how to prosecute and how to sentence. They let them continue to commit crimes, and stack each one together. So they appear in court for 5 previous crimes, then the new one is added continuing court for the others. Rinse, repeat. They allow numerous bond violations, still leave them on the streets. Prosecutors then at some point give them
a universal plea deal and a judge gives them very little time in jail, if any. And then they continue. The justice system is broken, with prosecutors and judges ignoring the laws and sentencing as they are written.
she didn’t do nuffin wrong!
Lol
if I’m gonna get assaulted by something mashed potatoes is always gonna be my first choice.
Lol
OK that was funny…..LOL
For mashed potatoes to truly be effective in a fight, they need to be in a sock.
In all seriousness, every time the article mentioned mashed potatoes, the smile on my face got a little bigger. That is never not going to be funny.
I’m thinking Jello would be a close second….
I’m glad I’ve never been to the Gloden shower corral. Blacks will be blacks
And ignorance will always be ignorant
That’s what he said
How would you explain blacks committing 40% of the violent crimes in the US while making up only 13% of the population? Everyone knows what the problems is but nobody is allowed to say it.
It’s almost 60%
I agree
Absolutely. They never understand
Officer, they beat me with a wet noodle! Arrest them.
They finally got the mashed potatoes bandit.
In a day and age of nonstop gun violence, It’s so refreshing to read of old-school weapons like mashed potatoes being used in a fight. Just don’t bring taters to a gunfight.
Holding someone’s face in mashed potatoes is a proven deterrent, especially if excessive gravy is involved.
So, Golden Corral joins the elite club of Chuck E Cheese and Waffle House?
LMFAO!
Only place they should be throwing that food is in the trash!!!!
A plate of mashed potatoes and NO gravy ?…..she’s a monster !
And this is why norm everyday law-abiding citizens do not go out in this over Riden town with this Bull Sh& t , it’s non- stop and everywhere.
Dam, that food must be goooooood. People are willing to fight for it. I think I heard the one girl say,” You took the last Tater Tot” Anyways, looked like a rather minor scuff, looks like the men kept things under control. Taters must be good!!! Time for a road trip.
The mashed potatoes there are awesome and the gravy is better than KFC 🤣
Might want to wait for a fresh pan, however.
Animals
Kids be more civilized than adults lately 🙄
Must have been all you can eat BBQ Ribs
If you like ribs check out Oh Dennis in Caledonia
Nope
They have great ribs, different crowd for sure.
My wife and I ate there for the first time recently, not great. That is simply my opinion, but I am fat, so my opinion should count for something.
I loves Golden Corral
About every stereotype represented in this one. Would never step in any Golden Corral because of them .
This is what happens when you replace a sizzler steak house with a buffet for the ingrates!
Her behavior is like the ingrate trust fund kid who can’t successfully complete a round of rehab, and so, she comes home and gaslights mommy and maybe daddy about why it’s their fault and why she needs more money.
This is extremely sad that you cannot take your family to dinner (no matter where it is) without having to worry about a brawl. the children in there must have been absolutely petrified especially when there is a knife involved and shame on the judge who let her off on such a low bail since there was a knife involved and she is obvouisly a violent individual.
Dinner and a show
Just stay in Racine!
Jesus, why is there so much racism in the comments. As a black person, we are not all the same. We do not conduct ourselves in the same manner. Those comments are so unnecessary and disgusting. It’s 2025 people, let’s stop the stereotypes. For everyone ignorant black person like that, you have a few other black people that are actually working and graduating college; and being productive members of society. We have to do better. That’s the problem, stop trying to divide. We are all American at the end of the day!!
You are 100% correct, now just please relay this message to all your people. Because I am sorry to say, but black people are more racist to towards whites than the other way around.
American Citizen. I agree with you.
Yet you know, one loud mouth black person (others too) screaming and acting threatening in a restaurant will clear the place out. Likely you’ll leave too.
12% accounts for well-over half of the incidents like this. I was 30+ years LEO. I am speaking from experience.
