PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. — A late-night garage fire in the 9100 block of 67th Street prompted a significant emergency response Thursday, injuring one resident and drawing aid from nearly a dozen departments across southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

The fire was first reported to the Pleasant Prairie Public Safety Dispatch Center at 10:43 p.m. on May 16. With smoke and flames visible, a “Working Fire” designation was immediately issued, triggering mutual aid from neighboring jurisdictions.

Firefighters arrived to find the attached garage of a single-story, single-family home fully engulfed in flames. The sole occupant of the residence had managed to escape prior to their arrival. Emergency medical personnel evaluated the resident on scene and transported them to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Crews worked quickly to contain the blaze, bringing it under control by 11:16 p.m. Despite the swift response, firefighters remained on scene until 1:43 a.m. conducting overhaul operations and ensuring hotspots were extinguished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

While emergency crews battled the flames, Paris Fire & Rescue Department provided community coverage and responded to other calls for service in Pleasant Prairie.
No further injuries were reported, and damage estimates have not yet been released.
