KENOSHA, Wis. – A daycare employee accused of abusing a 2-year-old boy at a Kenosha childcare center is being held in the Kenosha County Jail on $10,000 cash bail, while the child’s mother is speaking publicly for the first time—accusing the daycare owner of dishonesty and damage control.
Nour Althafiri, 26, of Waukegan, Ill., appeared in Kenosha County Circuit Court on Thursday, where she was formally charged with one count of physical abuse of a child. Court Commissioner William Michel II granted prosecutors’ request for strict conditions, including no contact with the child or his family, no unsupervised contact with any minors other than her own, and no use of physical discipline on any child. Her preliminary hearing is set for June 12 at 9:30 a.m.

The criminal complaint alleges that Althafiri injured the child, 2-year-old Zayne, while he was in her care at Rising Stars Academy, located at 5602 75th Street. Surveillance footage reviewed by detectives allegedly shows Althafiri repeatedly grabbing Zayne by the arms, shaking him, and covering his face with a blanket. Later, police say, she changed his clothes, applied ointment to his bruises, and rolled a ball under a cabinet—actions investigators believe were staged to explain away the injuries.

Kenosha County Eye spoke directly with Zayne’s mother, Samantha Onslow, who authorized the use of her son’s first name. She says she is deeply disappointed in how the daycare’s owner, Mousa Abuhassan, handled the situation.
According to Onslow, she posted about the incident on Facebook shortly after discovering her son’s injuries. She says Mousa contacted her after hiring an attorney and asked her to remove the post. She agreed to take it down but now believes the call was just part of a calculated attempt to control the narrative.
“He told me he would ‘take care of the situation,’” Onslow told KCE, “but they didn’t take care of it—they lied about it.”
She also accused Mousa of playing “language barrier games” in an attempt to confuse or mislead her. She said she was initially only allowed to view one surveillance angle, which conveniently did not show the area where the ball-rolling incident allegedly occurred. Eventually, after pressure, she was allowed to view the full footage and came to believe Althafiri intentionally staged parts of it to cover her tracks.
“Watching the full video, I’m sure she planned it,” Onslow said. “She knew what she was doing.”
Although she said she is “mostly happy” with the $10,000 cash bail set by the court, Onslow believes the impact on her son has been lasting. “He’s doing better,” she said, “but he’s talking less. I think it’s because of the trauma.”
When Kenosha County Eye called Rising Stars Academy on Thursday seeking comment, a woman who answered the phone said she wasn’t going to answer any questions and hung up. Later that evening, the business—owned by Mousa Abuhassan and administered by Nina Abuhassan, according to its website—issued the following written statement:
“Rising Stars Academy, LLC is aware of the recent arrest of a former employee. This individual is no longer employed by the daycare, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
We take all concerns involving the safety and well-being of children very seriously. Out of respect for the ongoing legal process and the privacy of the families involved, we will not be making further public comments at this time.
We remain committed to maintaining a safe, supportive environment for every child entrusted to our care.”
If convicted, Althafiri faces up to six years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Look at who the owner of that place is and do more digging…..lot of shady things going on it seems.
Fox 6 kept referencing the CCTV video, but never showed it. DA Solis looking good, please do not be lenient on her. Does not matter she didn’t physically hit the child. You should not squeeze anyone hard enough to leave those kind of bruises, she has no business being around children.
Another Dirtbag!!!! These people that harm kids should have physical harm done to them.
I mean it’s a ghetto a$$ daycare center. Many years ago when I looked at it, I couldn’t run out fast enough.
So much for peaceful musloids. Locked her up and throw away the key. We don’t have sharia law here.
There were three vehicles with Muslim holy warriors waiting for her to come out of jail. The parking lot looked like a mini Gaza. If ICE had been here yesterday, they could have gotten ten for the price of one. What a shame.
I pray that she doesn’t bear any of her own children! If you do that to a 2 year old , you don’t have the patience to be a parent.
She is a good teacher, and all the children say she is good. How will you handle this child? But when you want to see someone as guilty, you will see them as guilty. She didn’t do anything, and she knows there are cameras, but the drama among the parents is excessive. The daycare and the daycare owners are ethical people who love children and always want to give each child their due, allowing them to come to their place safely and leave safely. So be kind in your dealings with the accused girl and with the business owners because they do not deserve all this.
Don’t hire hajis
