KENOSHA, Wis. – Leadership Kenosha is now accepting applications for its 2025–2026 civic leadership development program, as well as project proposals from local nonprofits seeking support for community initiatives.
The program, hosted by the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC), aims to build the next generation of local leaders by connecting participants with area organizations, issues, and leadership opportunities. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply by June 15 at leadershipkenosha.com to receive scholarship consideration and priority placement.
Now entering its 26th year, Leadership Kenosha focuses on developing critical skills such as communication, relationship building, conflict management, inclusive leadership, and problem-solving. Participants also collaborate on team projects in partnership with nonprofit organizations, allowing them to address real-world needs in Kenosha County.
Last year’s cohort supported projects ranging from digital media creation to fundraising and volunteer recruitment. Projects included:
- Digital Cart Commanders (Shalom Center): Developed instructional videos to guide users through the online food pantry system and on-site client experience.
- United Storytellers (United Way of Kenosha County): Collected volunteer stories, photos, and video to support marketing and communications.
- Butterfly (Open Wings Learning Community): Provided feedback on event design and assessed sustainability efforts following a major fundraiser.
- For the Future (Kenosha Community Sailing Center): Boosted marketing efforts and secured auction item donations for a spring community event.
- Roof Raisers (Habitat for Humanity of Kenosha): Sought sponsorships, coordinated volunteers, and promoted the organization’s Community Build Week.
Nonprofits interested in receiving support through the program should submit project proposals by August 1 via the Leadership Kenosha website.
The program recently celebrated the graduation of its 2024–2025 class at The Stella Hotel & Ballroom. The event also recognized Carolynn Friesch, a 2015 graduate and CEO of United Way of Kenosha County, with the Leadership Kenosha Distinguished Alumni Award. Friesch was honored for her commitment to equity, collaboration, and inclusive leadership throughout the community.
